Just a question out of curiousity.
At your JCPenney store, what is your policy about clothes from other departments? Like...are you supposed to put it back yourself, or put it on that department's rack by the fitting room and then take what belongs in your department?
At my store, it was you put it back yourself but then two weeks after being there, it was changed to you just take that department's stuff to their rack then take your own stuff.
I work in misses. With our quad and juniors we're supposed to hang it back if we can pass it on the way to the other quad. Like, juniors isn't on the way to their quad but swimsuits and petites, both sections that are theirs, are so we're supposed to put those back. If juniors has some of our stuff at their quad I usually take it but I think I'm going to stop because they don't take it when we have their stuff at our quad. They just dump what they're bringing us and walk on by.
With all the other departments we put it on the rack by the quad or the counter if they don't have a rack. If I see someone I'll ask "is this yours?" because I don't know what's young men's and what goes to the other men's quad. If I don't see anyone, I just leave it all and let them sort it out. Men's is really sneaky about dropping things off when we're not looking. They're always leaving juniors and even children's clothes with us.
for my store it has always been, "bring the stuff to the other department and take your own back with you."
what actually happens is different. most of the time everyone just waits till close and then they piss and moan that we always stay an hour or more later than store closing. lately though, we have package pick-up go around the store and take everyone their stuff. it seems to work easier that way.
We bring back the clothes/items that go to the other departments, and if we're in a good mood, take our own. Women's accessories and women's apparel is pretty good about not waiting until the end of the night, and men's has gotten a lot better, but the kid's department used to always wait until close. And we'd FLIP out at them. I haven't been working nights lately, so I don't know how it is now.
Also, our women's dept is huge, and have different zones: petites/casual, career, dresses/womens, juniors, then two quads. We just take back what belong in the other zones and put it on their rack. If it's few things, I'll put it back myself a lot of the time, esp if I'm bored, but it's not required.
When I used to work at Penney's, my store was so small that it was entirely possible to put stuff back yourself. Most people were nice enough to offer a helping hand and take their department's items off of other department's racks and/or offer to put away the items in their department that someone from another department had been doing. If that makes any sense.
I was never quite sure what the exact policy was. But, that's just how my store worked.
Well, at my store we only have to take it back to their departments, but we all like each other for the most part, so out of curtosy we take our own stuff. I've been known to take everything from every department that didn't belong and return it to said department. ::Shruggs:: Though, we have no specific policy that I know of.
