So, April 29th was my last day working at JcPenney. I was there only a little over six months.

I loved my job. And that is the truth. I worked with the most amazing people. I made the most amazing friends. I had to quit because the store that I was working at was over an hour away from my house. If distance hadn't been an issue, I would still be working there. As pathetic as this sounds, there was a lot of fighting between my parents and I over this. There were a lot of tears shed and a lot of the silent treatment. When I signed my resignation forms, there were more tears.

Yes, I cried over quitting my JcPenney job. I still miss it everyday. I worked primarily in Juniors (which also included women's, intimates, coats, active, and homes). We had our regular elderly ladies that know our names and we knew their names. We had some SUPER regular customers that would call our quad and could reconize our voices. We had a small store. So small that I could look from my quad and see the associate in the mens department at their quad.

My keyholders were amazing. I'm pretty scatterbrained and ask a lot of questions. With as annoying as I can get, they all had ultimate patience with me. They were a very approachable bunch of people. They were "higher-ups" but we could all get together after closing and go out to dinner or to the bar. They would throw us associates parties if we had to stay extra late or come in super early. Sometimes, they would just get together and throw a random party.

I don't know exactly why I have such an attacment to the job I had. I just loved it. I would take back that job anyday.

I miss my JcPenney.

I'm a new sales associate and (kinda-sorta) new to work in general. I worked for about a week at a grocery store, and if there's anything I love about this job, it's how wonderful the registers are in comparison to the ones I trained on before. I'm glad as hell this community exists, just so I have a place to assure myself that I'm not going insane. Some of my co-workers are awesome, but the night crew makes me feel like the town leper, so another place to vent is always good. Anyway, I'm at the JCP in Aurora, IL in women's career...excuse me, misses career, or whatever the hell the official title is. Why did they decide to name the plus sizes "women's" instead of something actually indicative of what's there?

I just don't understand how so many people can effectively live their lives when they're convinced they're the absolute center of the universe. No, I can't drop what I'm doing to help you--you see those flesh-colored shapes, kinda the same height as you? Believe it or not, those are people, too, and they were at the front of this really nifty thing called a "line." These "lines" prevent chaos. Pretty nifty, huh? Why don't you haul your ass to the back of it and wait your turn like everyone else?

Case in point is some lady who cuts to the front of the line and shouts, "IS ANYONE EVEN WORKING HERE?" Mind you, it was during the busiest point on a Saturday, and associates were busy at every point of the quad helping the customers that actually stood in line (I really wish she could have seen the looks they gave her.) The implication that we weren't doing our jobs made me want to shove a hanger in the nearest orifice. Customer TMI is almost as bad. Really, sir, I don't need to hear about how these capris you're exchanging for another color hug your girlfriend's ass.

Tonight there was an enormous pile of clothes stuffed under one of the chairs sitting outside the fitting room. They were from all corners of the women's department, different sizes, half didn't have tags, and one wasn't even from our store. What the hell? I'm assuming that was a lazy associate rather than a shoplifter. Not cool.

I can't believe it's only been 3 days on the floor. As contradictory as this sounds, though, I kind of like it. I could pass on the aching feet, but at least there's always something to do and "guess what happened at work" stories.

I guess they changed the way the register takes coupons or something. They've been messing with the registers a lot lately. But anyway, made a discovery that Value Rights can no longer count toward your purchase total for those $10 off 50 coupons.

Thus enforcing my perception that VR's are our little ace in the hole.

Assoc: "No."
Customer: "Why not?"
Assoc: "Value Right." *cue doom-y music*

I swear to god, first person who asks me for a "five-size" or any other riddiculous mutation of the english language is getting a shoehorn up the nose.

Thebeergod got the craziest thing in the mail today. When we were processing a chair for TTR, he lost his name tag in the box and it was sent off without us knowing. I get a call 2 weeks later, and an outlet store in illinois has it! so they send it back and we get a big laugh out of it. Well, thebeergod and i were talking about sending stuff around to different Penney's stores. and my little cousin's class gave me the best idea.... They have a little guy named flat stanley that you take around and take pictures of him sight seeing or doing cool stuff around the city you live in. I was thinking what if we make a Flat Penney. We could mail it to eachother's store without having to pay postage, and we can all take turns passing him around taking pictures doing things outside of work, and make a little book of our adventures. If anyone is interested in doing this, let me know and I can start sending out little Flat Penney's....
